If you’re looking for a bottle to ring in the New Year, might we suggest this to have after or even alongside those bubbles. Barrell’s New Year 2025 release is as multifaceted as this year has been, blending components from all of the usual suspects, but also New York, Texas, Wyoming, Ohio and Maryland, ranging in age from 5 to 15 years. The derived mash bills comes in at 75% corn, 20% rye, 4% malted barley and just a touch of wheat. A gentle cask influence underlies the palate while it builds on the diversity of fruit and herbs. An initial note of candied pineapple hints at a tropical depth revealed only with a splash of water.
