Château Ducasse
2014 Bordeaux Blanc  | Bordeaux, France
$16 per bottle | $172.80 per case

It’s always surprising when Sauvignon Blanc lovers reveal that they don’t really drink white Bordeaux. Not because the Loire Valley, New Zealand or California don’t provide enough exquisite examples, but because Bordeaux Blanc – to my taste – produces the most distinctive and striking elevations of a grape that already has character to spare. Château Ducasse’s refreshing new vintage is arguably the best value of them all, which is why it’s a natural and refreshing choice for our Wine of the Week. Grapefruit, apricots, and sweet herbs abound, of course, but the region’s gravelly minerality and honeyed lushness sets it apart from any other white wine in the world, Sauvignon Blanc-based or otherwise. The added texture also gives it a leg up on grilled seafood (especially scallops), tomato and chèvre salads, and lighter Thai food. Guaranteed to thrill Sauvignon Blanc fans, and wine fans in general, we recommend calling to reserve your share of the very limited quantities we have at this introductory price. - Ryan Stotz, Store Manager, H&F Bottle Shop
