Domaine de la Janasse
2012 Réserve
Côtes-du-Rhône, France
$17 per bottle | $183.60 per case

Noted importer Eric Solomon is proud of his long association with Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s estimable Domaine de la Janasse. So deep is this relationship that the estate made a custom Réserve cuvée of their Côtes-du-Rhône just for him. It’s such a standout in their lineup that it had to be this week’s Wine of the Week. Made from older vines adjacent to their Châteauneuf-du-Pape holdings, and aged in foudre just like their Châteauneuf, the pedigree of Domaine de la Janasse Réserve is impossible to miss. Smoky, darkly earthy, and herbal flourishes that elevate the concentrated cherry, blackberry, and pepper flavors typically found in Southern Rhône reds. Full-bodied, but not quite massive, this will serve you well as a warming sipper all by itself or as a compliment to highly-seasoned roast lamb or pork dishes. - Ryan Stotz, Assistant Store Manager, H&F Bottle Shop
