Fattoria di Fèlsina
2011 Chianti Classico Sangiovese
Tuscany, Italy
   $19 | $205.20 per case

With a return to tradition and an attention to quality not seen for generations, a Chianti renaissance is underway. Never straying from its heritage, Fattoria di Fèlsina’s definitive Chianti Classico sets the bar in this category and thus is our pick for Wine of the Week. Made from 100 percent Sangiovese and aged only in Slovenian oak, Fèlsina's restraint highlights both Chianti's unique black cherry and herbal notes, as well as the juicy, dark berry fruit and warm baking spice that's always been characteristic of Fèlsina.

Although this is a bolder, riper, early-drinking vintage for Fèlsina, there's no reason this wine can't age nicely for about a decade. It's as perfect for your cellar as it is to open tonight with a simple pasta bolognese or perfectly grilled steak. The only downside? The reviews are in and the secret is out that this is Fèlsina Chianti Classico's best vintage since 1996.  So unless you’ve been really good this year, this is thee last chance to pick up this vintage for under $20. - Ryan Stotz, Assistant Store Manager, H&F Bottle Shop
