Marolo Gewurztraminer Grappa
You might think you know grappa: that peasant’s spirit made from grape musk, reminiscent of ground-fermented fruits and delivering eau-de-vie funk. But when a producer decides that the “peasants” deserve the intense focus usually reserved for fine wines, you are delivered an elegant and seductive product. This grappa is made from Gewurztraminer grapes, that highly versatile and aromatic variety from Germany. And truly, it’s a grappa like none other: releasing notes of sugar plums and lavender, it drinks like Earl Grey and leaves pleasant petrol and floral notes on the palate. We suggest drinking lightly chilled, alongside a lemon tart or other acidic dessert.
