2011 Ale Aged in Calvados Casks
Manchester, UK 11.5% ABV; 9.3 Oz
Our friends across the pond are giving us the best ale we can think of to celebrate our fifth birthday. Started in 1828, J.W. Lees is one of the oldest breweries in England. They are specifically known for their barrel aging ability. This guy in particular is their 2011 calvados barrel aged ale that happens to be the same age as us. This ale shows a beautiful hazy gold color combined with a dark fruit aroma. The taste yields to more dark fruits, apricot, a touch of spice, and a sweet finish. J.W. Lees only used hops at the beginning of the harvest season to ensure consistency in taste. This is an outstanding ale fit for any birthday occasion. Lucky for us, it is ours!
